Each year, around 200 000 party-goers from Switzerland and abroad visit the country's biggest New Year's Eve party to gaze up at the brightly lit night sky. What began in 1988 as just a small New Year's Eve party on Zurich's Gemüsebrücke is now a permanent fixture in the city's calendar of events. New Year Magic is already in its twelfth year under the patronage of the Zurich hoteliers' association. This magical spectacle is highly recommended for anyone who wants to see the new year in with a bang.

The main event: the firework display a 20-minute display of dazzling lights
The main event of New Year Magic is the impressive firework display funded by the Zurich hoteliers' association. The spectacular display will light up the sky above Lake Zurich and the city from 0.20 to 0.40. The fireworks will be set off from two specially anchored boats to enchant the crowds, creating a seemingly endless sea of light.

A festive atmosphere on the banks of Lake Zurich
The festival area stretches right around the city shores of Lake Zurich – from the Limmatquai through Hechtplatz and up to the Utoquai as well as over the Quaibrücke at Bellevue as far as the General-Guisan-Quai.
